I never knew how rare it was to sit down with your family at a table and break bread until I joined others for dinner and found that they had no sort of formal dining situation. We had fights at the table, we laughed, we cried, we made some big decisions at those tables and during those meals. Dinner was our time to share our days and to be a family. If one of us couldn’t take a break from the tv or video games the rest of the family would impatiently yell for that person to get their butt downstairs. Of course there were some occasions when we gathered in front of a tv while we ate but there had to be something really important on like the Steelers in the Superbowl or a movie that had us hooked and unable to press pause. My family of six always ate dinner at the dinner table. The one thing that keeps bringing me back is the dinner table. These are all moments that helped get me to where I am today. I recall dining experiences that left a lasting memory and taste, and the times I created something in the kitchen without once looking at a recipe (I was embarrassingly proud of myself). I have been thinking a lot about why food is so exciting to me. While the idea to make this recipe was inspired by the event and has some french connections (as most things New Orleanians do) this post is really about becoming a part of our family. Let me just stop now and tell you that this post has nothing to do with Bastille Day, in fact this post has nothing to with anything French. My parents were hosting a Bastille Day party and of course we could not miss it. This past weekend the hubby and I headed up to Pittsburgh.

With that all added together the life for a modern card counter is grinding out for comps and very low player advantage for very long times. Then in addition betting big at high limit tables is going to be more carefully scrutinized as well. This all eats into their advantage substantially. They want to appear like someone that does not know how to play basic strategy and raises and lowers their bets based on superstition (there's a lot of them). They don't vary their bet that widely and make purposeful bad decisions to make it appear they are not keeping a count. So the people that are left counting have to avoid heat by "camouflaging" their actions. So they know when the deck is positive and if you are always betting big when that happens you will be detected. It is not hard especially since all these people do all day is look at cards. Security personnel and even dealers keep counts. Behavior like this will get you detected. The way to be maximally profitable is to vary your bet very widely depending on how positive the deck is. Tables that have hand shuffling of 6-8 decks cut the deck and reshuffle with 2 decks remaining or so. Casinos employ methods such as continuous shuffling machines that make counting impossible. Also "penetration" into the deck is important because the less cards there are remaining in the deck the probability of you getting the cards you want (positive count big cards) is higher. The whole premise of card counting is to vary your bets where you are betting more when the count is in your favor, and less when it isn't. Card counting is romanticized but really it is almost impossible to get away with now (while making any meaningful money). If you only need the vehicle for a few hours, go with the hourly rate. It took me a while because I didn't want to be DLC. towards my character model, towards the things that I do in the ring, the motion capture itself. Speaking of video game dominance, WWE 2K23, which is 25% off PlayStation right now, it's the highest-rated game in the franchise's history. If you're just now jumping into SuperCard, it's not just an active and large community that's still playing and growing, playing this game, but also your developers and your team really are trying to give people the utmost maximum experience just dominating that card space. That they're sometimes the first of in party of things that people want, which is just really what's encouraging. I've noticed with SuperCard they kind of sneak things in, in a way. Again, ninth anniversary, continuing, I'd say SuperCard a little ahead of the curve in a sense, that a lot of whether it be our figures or whether it be the 2K series, some things we campaign for, and we push for, and then, ultimately, the fan service element of it, we get them. I don't want to make you jealous, but I've actually eaten at the real Ten Forward. And it's just the closest I've ever been to a real-life Ten Forward. Because it's just a big space just like 10 Forward. Space 220 is the closest thing I've ever been to an actual Ten Forward. There's a restaurant at Epcot called Space 220. That's a good, good shirt, I'll tell you. I'm surprised we didn't get you one at the Picard premiere.Ĭody Rhodes: Aw yeah. Also, congrats on that really sweet Ten Forward shirt you have. Screen Rant: Cody, congrats on being the number one draft pick for Monday Night RAW!Ĭody Rhodes: That's a pretty wild thing to hear. Off topic are there any of the other sounds/instruments you really like so far? The CZ by Casio brought me back to my youth and the Juno 6 is really enjoyable for me. I am going to have to look for the link- but thought I read on some earlier versions that Arturia perhaps licensed Modarrt code and used some of their programming so to speak with the V piano collection. On a weighted action you can more easily control that lower dynamic range. On a synth action like your MKII 61 (I have the same one), it is too easy to play hard(er) at the low velocity end, so you need a slow, very exponential curve to compensate. From about 117 to 128 seems a small range, but it is where your loud playing versus a really hard accent will occur. Or in a band, which generally skews your whole touch up higher. Then for the end it is all about how hard you hit when you are playing really hard. On many preset curves I always find that it jumps too quickly the moment I am trying to start a slight crescendo. I like to have a lot of play/range from the lower to the middle - that is the heart of what you will feel is the dynamic response. Then for me, the most important thing is how you climb up out of your quietest playing to a medium level. You can get clinical when you're testing, and trying to play as soft as you can, but you'll find that when you are playing without being in "test" mode you'll be averaging much higher. What are the average MIDI values when you think you are playing softly? For many of us, they are higher than you might think. Whether you do it first in the application, or just get a MIDI monitor, you need to look at how you play. I'm glad that my work is being used.Īs for velocity curves, it's really all about your touch, not what the curve looks like per se. We did both the Stage and the Piano together. "This is part of what keeps them in the fire department. “A lot of guys on drill teams are ex-chiefs," Conn said. Kenneth Conn, a vice president for the New York State Volunteer Fireman’s Parade and Drill Team Captain’s Association, told NBC New York public expenditures for drill team racing are justified because the events help recruit and retain volunteers. The rules say injuries suffered while participating in “authorized drills,” “parades” and “funerals” qualify for public benefits.Īt the same time, the rules disqualify injuries suffered during competitive events “which involve physical exertion on the part of the competitors.” Guidelines published by the New York State Workers Compensation Board are unclear as to whether drill team racing injuries should be considered “in the line of duty” injuries. The fire commissioners insist the higher costs have nothing to do with drill team racing. In 2012, taxpayers in the Elmont Fire District are set to pay workers compensation premiums that are 9 percent higher than in 2011. "If the state comes around and says, 'You can’t do this anymore,' then we’ll stop it." “Workers compensation is paying for it at this time," said Elmont Fire Commissioner Andrew Bohnet. NBC New York has also learned the Elmont Fire District has agreed to pay workers compensation for the firefighter who was injured during drill team practice in August. “These are very poor times economically for fire departments across the nation and if this, in fact, is more of a hobby than a firefighting exercise, well, they should be looking for other ways to raise the money than taking it from the taxpayers,” Carter said. Of the district’s 33 vehicle fleet, three are used exclusively for drill team racing. The vehicles themselves, which can cost more than $10,000 each, were also paid for by fire taxes. The commissioners insisted there is no set budget for the tradition, but in an email, a spokesperson for the fire district said fuel and maintenance costs eat up between 2 and 4 percent of the district’s total vehicle maintenance budget of $255,000. NBC New York asked the Elmont fire commissioners to itemize how much the fire district spends on drill team racing. “I would think that your chances of being hurt hanging off the back of a drag racer are a lot greater than on a regular fire truck,” Carter said. Carter said the high-speed contests bear little resemblance to actual firefighting scenarios. "But if they’re using the taxpayers’ money for such things, I don’t think it’s the right thing to do." “I don’t know where those race cars come from and what money they use to buy it," said Elmont resident Carmina Rivera. Two months later, one of the injured volunteers is still fighting to regain his mobility, and taxpayers are beginning to question why their money is being used to fund a dangerous and costly kind of racing. The vehicle veered into a guardrail, according to Nassau County police, ejecting all four firefighters.
